The vegan lifestyle is one in which vegans exclude anything with animal ingredients. Certainly this is indicative of vegan food in a vegan diet, but it also extends to other vegan products, including:

Vegan cleaning supplies

Vegan clothes

Vegan shoes

In other words veganism is all-encompassing, so vegans must do our homework by seeking out trusted vegan resources for the vegan information we need to make smart, informed decisions about the vegan lifestyle, including the vegan diet and vegan products. From the history of veganism to specifics on how to become a vegan, living the vegan lifestyle means immersing yourself in the “how” as well as the “why.”

The history of veganism dates back to 1944. That’s when Donald Watson and Elsie Shrigley coined the term “vegan” by combing the first three letters and last two letters of “vegetarian.” It was their response to the inclusion of dairy products in vegetarianism, which they strongly opposed. They founded The Vegan Society and have been promoting the vegan lifestyle ever since with valuable vegan information on the ethical and moral reasons for veganism and, in turn, how to become a vegan.

Of course, numerous vegan resources now exist for vegan information, as do a variety of options for buying vegan food and other vegan products online.

Learning how to become a vegan is simply a matter of vegans knowing what ingredients to avoid and which ones to choose instead.
